[사회/CTN]가금현 기자= 충청남도자원봉사센터(센터장 오선희)는 6월 21일(일) 서산 천수만 일대에서 서산시자원봉사센터(센터장 이경구) 자원봉사자 120여 명이 참여한 가운데 「2026 해안 클린 릴레이 '충남이 하나 되어 지키는 바다'」의 첫 활동을 진행하여 해양쓰레기 약 15톤을 수거했다.
이번 활동은 충청남도 해양정책과 공모사업으로 선정된 「2026 해안 클린 릴레이」 사업의 시작을 알리는 행사로, 참여자들은 천수만 해안가에 방치된 쓰레기를 수거하며 해양환경 보호를 위한 환경정화 활동을 펼쳤다.
해안 클린 릴레이는 충남 서해안의 해양쓰레기 문제 해결과 해양환경 보전에 대한 도민 인식 확산을 위해 마련된 사업으로, 6월부터 11월까지 보령, 아산, 서산, 당진, 서천, 홍성, 태안 등 충남 해안지역에서 진행된다.
특히 이번 사업은 자원봉사와 여행을 결합한 ‘볼런투어(Voluntour)’ 방식으로 운영된다. 참가자들은 해안지역의 자연환경을 체험하는 동시에 환경정화 활동에 참여하며 해양환경 보전의 중요성을 직접 체감하게 된다.
또한 대한민국특수임무유공자회 충남지부와 해병대전우회 충남연합회가 함께 참여해 보트와 잠수장비를 활용한 수중 정화 활동을 진행한다. 이를 통해 일반 자원봉사자들의 접근이 어려운 수중과 섬 지역의 해양쓰레기 수거에도 힘을 보탤 예정이다.
아울러 충청남도자원봉사센터는 오는 9월 19일 국제 연안 정화의 날을 맞아 플로깅, 자원순환 챌린지, 탄소중립 체험부스 등 다양한 프로그램을 운영하며 도민 참여를 확대해 나갈 계획이다.
오선희 충청남도자원봉사센터장은 “바다는 해안지역 주민들만의 공간이 아니라 우리 모두의 삶과 연결된 소중한 자산”이라며 “무더운 날씨에도 깨끗한 바다를 만들기 위해 함께해 주신 자원봉사자 여러분께 감사드리며, 앞으로도 많은 도민들이 해양환경 보호 활동에 동참해 주시길 바란다.”고 말했다.
한편 충청남도자원봉사센터는 이번 사업을 통해 총 참여자 2,200명 이상, 해양 정화 활동(수중 정화 활동 포함) 51회 이상, 해양쓰레기 30톤 이상 수거 목표를 가지고 활동을 이어갈 계획이다.
