출구조사 뒤집은 대역전
[정치/CTN]가금현 기자= 6·3 지방선거 최고의 승부처였던 서울시장 선거에서 국민의힘 오세훈 후보가 극적인 대역전극을 연출하며 더불어민주당 정원오 후보를 꺾고 당선됐다.
이로써 오 후보는 서울시장 선거 역사상 최초로 '5선 고지'에 오르는 대기록을 세웠다.
4일 중앙선거관리위원회에 따르면, 이날 오전 9시 30분 기준(개표율 97.70%) 오세훈 후보는 48.94%의 득표율을 기록, 48.34%를 얻은 정원오 후보를 0.60%포인트(3만 3,59표) 차이로 따돌리며 당선을 확정 지었다.
개표 막판까지 손에 땀을 쥐게 하는 초접전 승부였다.
방송사 예측 뒤집은 '강남 3구'의 뒷심 선거 당일 발표된 지상파 방송 3사(KBS·MBC·SBS) 출구조사에서는 정 후보가 51.4%로 오 후보(46.0%)를 앞섰고, JTBC 예측조사에서도 정 후보(53.5%)가 오 후보(42.9% )를 10.6%포인트 차로 여유 있게 앞설 것으로 예측됐다.
개표 초중반 실제로 정 후보에게 30만 표 이상 뒤지며 고전하던 오 후보는, '강남 3구'의 개표가 본격화되면서 무서운 추격세를 보였다. 결국 이날 오전 7시 16분경 첫 역전에 성공한 뒤 그대로 승기를 굳혔다.
정원오 후보는 개표 결과에 승복했다. 정 후보는 이날 오전 9시 30분경 서울 중구 민주당 서울시장 선거상황실을 찾아 "시민의 선택을 무겁고 겸허히 받들겠다. 제가 부족했던 탓"이라며 고개를 숙였다.
이어 "당선되신 오세훈 후보께 축하를 전하며, 끝까지 함께해 주신 시민과 당원 동지들의 응원에 감사드린다"고 전했다.

According to the National Election Commission on the 4th, as of 9:30 AM with 97.70% of the votes counted, Candidate Oh secured 48.94% of the votes, narrowing out Candidate Jung (48.34%) by a mere 0.60 percentage points (30,359 votes) to confirm his victory. It was a nail-biting, razor-thin race that lasted until the very end of the ballot counting.
'Gangnam 3 Districts' Overturn Broadcast Predictions Exit polls released on election day by the three major terrestrial broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS) initially showed Jung leading with 51.4% to Oh's 46.0%. JTBC's prediction poll also projected Jung (53.5%) to comfortably lead Oh (42.9%) by 10.6 percentage points. In fact, Oh lagged behind Jung by more than 300,000 votes during the early and mid-stages of counting. However, as the votes from the 'Gangnam 3 districts' began to open, the gap closed rapidly. Oh successfully overtook the lead for the first time at 7:16 AM that day and maintained his top position until victory.
Candidate Jung Won-oh conceded defeat. At around 9:30 AM, Jung appeared at the Democratic Party's Seoul mayoral election situation room in Jung-gu, Seoul, bowing his head and stating, "I accept the choice of the citizens heavily and humbly. It was my shortcoming." He added, "I extend my congratulations to the elected Candidate Oh, and I am deeply grateful for the warm support of the citizens and party members who stayed with me until the end."
