With the Start of Official Campaigning, Seosan Clean Election Watchdog Launches Activities
Democratic Party¡¯s Seosan-Taean Regional Committee members lead the watchdog group to monitor election fraud.
Operation of dashcam (black box) monitoring and on-site surveillance teams.
Even receiving small gifts, a single meal, or a 10,000 won bill can result in fines up to 50 times the value.
Reward for reporting election fraud reaches up to 500 million won.
[Politics / CTN] Reporter Geum-hyun Ga = In line with the start of the official campaign period for the June 3 local elections, the Clean Election Watchdog (led by Director Kyu-min Kim), composed of members from the Democratic Party of Korea¡¯s Seosan-Taean Regional Committee, has officially commenced its activities.
Kyu-min Kim, director of the Seosan Clean Election Watchdog, stated, "In addition to routine monitoring and evidence collection, we will utilize vehicle dashcams deployed in every corner of Seosan to monitor illegal election campaigning."
Director Kim added, "Even seemingly trivial small gifts, a single meal, or a 10,000 won bill can lead to a fine of up to 50 times its value. A 10,000 won bowl of gukbap (rice soup) could turn into a 500,000 won fine, so we ask voters to be cautious." He also urged active reporting from Seosan citizens, noting, "The reward for reporting election fraud is up to 500 million won."
An official from Seosan Mayor Candidate Jeong-ho Maeng¡¯s campaign commented, "Although the Clean Election Watchdog is not an official part of our campaign organization, we welcome the voluntary activities of our party members. We hope this initiative ensures that the June 3 local election will be conducted more fairly than any other election."
Director Kyu-min Kim requested Seosan citizens to report even the slightest suspicion of illegal campaign activities to the designated number.
