Hyundai Steel Delivers 20 Years of Warmth to the Local Community Ahead of Chuseok
From Gift Boxes to Traditional Market Support and Songpyeon-Making¡¦ Hyundai Steel Continues Community-Based Social Contribution
[CTN/Society] Reporter Ga Geum-hyeon
Hyundai Steel is continuing its warm community outreach ahead of the Chuseok holiday, putting corporate social responsibility into practice through various sharing activities for local residents.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Hyundai Steel¡¯s Chuseok sharing activities, which began in 2007. The company is once again bringing holiday warmth to local residents through a variety of programs, including gift-box donations for vulnerable households, traditional market revitalization campaigns, and songpyeon-making activities for elderly people living alone.
In particular, this year¡¯s activities are meaningful because they go beyond simply providing goods. Hyundai Steel is directly visiting residents, checking on their well-being, supporting the local economy, and encouraging sharing between generations.
¡á Gift Boxes Worth KRW 20 Million Delivered to 400 Vulnerable Households
Hyundai Steel held a gift-box delivery ceremony at Dangjin City Hall on September 16 and donated gift boxes worth KRW 20 million to 400 vulnerable households in the local community.
The ceremony was attended by approximately 60 people, including Hyundai Steel Executive Vice President Kang Yeon-chae and Dangjin Mayor Kim Gi-jae, along with other officials.
The gift boxes contained daily necessities such as noodles, silchi seaweed, and kitchen supplies.
In the days leading up to the ceremony, Hyundai Steel employees and members of the Majungmul Women¡¯s Volunteer Group personally packed the gift boxes. On the day of the event, they visited households of elderly people living alone, delivered the prepared gifts, and checked on their well-being and living conditions.
Rather than simply delivering supplies, the volunteers took time to show genuine interest in the daily lives of local residents, adding deeper meaning to the company¡¯s sharing activities.
Kang Yeon-chae, Executive Vice President of Hyundai Steel, said:
¡°The holiday season can be an even lonelier time for neighbors who are socially isolated. As we welcome the holiday, we will continue to pay closer attention to those in need in our community and consistently carry out sharing activities for them.¡±

¡á Traditional Market Campaign to Support the Local Economy
Hyundai Steel will also hold a traditional market revitalization campaign at Dangjin Traditional Market on September 21, ahead of Chuseok.
The campaign was organized to encourage the use of traditional markets and promote the consumption of locally produced agricultural products during the holiday season.
Dangjin Steelworks plans to deliver KRW 15 million worth of Onnuri gift certificates to 31 affiliated welfare facilities in the Dangjin area.
The company will also purchase food ingredients, daily necessities, and other items needed for the holiday at the traditional market together with representatives from the welfare facilities.
Employees of Dangjin Steelworks and members of the Majungmul Women¡¯s Volunteer Group are scheduled to participate in the event, helping bring vitality to the local traditional market.
This reflects how corporate social responsibility is expanding beyond donations to support a virtuous cycle within the local economy.
¡á 84 Family Volunteers Make Songpyeon for Elderly People Living Alone
Earlier, on September 12, Hyundai Steel¡¯s Happy Prism Family Volunteer Group made songpyeon at the cafeteria of the Dangjin Senior Welfare Center for elderly people living alone.
A total of 84 people from 23 families participated in the activity, including Hyundai Steel employees, their spouses, and children.
The volunteers carefully prepared and steamed the traditional rice cakes, reflecting on the meaning of sharing during the holiday season.
The songpyeon made by the volunteers will be delivered to elderly households living alone in the Dangjin area from September 14 through September 18, in connection with the Dangjin Senior Welfare Center¡¯s side-dish support program.
The activity provided an opportunity for employee families to share the value of volunteering with their children while delivering the warmth of the holiday to local senior citizens.
¡á Two Decades of Holiday Sharing¡¦ Hyundai Steel Grows Together with the Community
Hyundai Steel¡¯s Chuseok sharing activities this year continue the company¡¯s holiday social contribution efforts that have been carried out for two decades.
At a time when corporate social responsibility is receiving increasing attention, Hyundai Steel continues to operate various social contribution programs based on ongoing communication and participation with the local community.
This year¡¯s activities include practical forms of support closely connected to residents¡¯ daily lives, such as providing daily necessities to vulnerable households, supporting the local economy through traditional market purchases, and sharing holiday food with elderly people living alone.
The participation of employees, family volunteer groups, and welfare facility representatives also demonstrates a model of social contribution built through cooperation between businesses and local communities.
Chuseok is a time to share warmth and affection with family and neighbors. Hyundai Steel is once again putting that meaning into practice by carefully looking after members of the community who may be facing greater loneliness during the holiday season.
As its 20-year tradition of sharing continues, Hyundai Steel¡¯s ongoing social contribution activities demonstrate the values of corporate responsibility and mutual growth, bringing warmth and hope to the Dangjin community.
