[경주/CTN]이수현 기자= 주낙영 경주시장은 "중책을 맡겨주신 동료 시장·군수님들께 감사드린다"라며 "22개 시·군이 힘을 모아 지방소멸 위기에 공동 대응하고, 실질적인 지방분권과 재정 자립을 위해 경상북도와 중앙정부를 잇는 가교 역할에 최선을 다하겠다"라고 말했다. 경상북도시장군수협의회는 정기회의를 열고 주낙영 경주시장을 전반기 협의회장으로 선출했다고 밝혔다.
경주시에 따르면 주 시장은 경북 22개 시장·군수를 대표해 지역 현안에 대한 의견을 중앙정부에 전달하고, 지방자치 발전을 위한 정책 및 제도 개선을 건의하는 역할을 맡게 된다.
협의회는 지방소멸 위기 공동 대응을 비롯해 지방분권 확대와 지방재정 자립 강화를 핵심 과제로 추진할 계획이다.
지자체장들이 모여 협의체를 구성하고 대표를 선출해 지역 현안에 대해 공동의 목소리를 내는 것은 정례적인 지자체 간 교류 행정이다.
