[포항/CTN]이수현 기자= 박용선 포항시장은 "현재 포항시는 소나무재선충병의 확산 속도가 방제 속도를 앞지르고 있는 극심한 상황"이라며 "피해를 관리 가능한 수준으로 낮추기 위해 항공방제를 비롯한 효율적인 방제수단을 총동원해 방제에 총력을 다하고 있다"라고 말했다. 포항시는 기북면 탑정리 일대 유인항공방제 현장을 찾아 방제 추진 상황을 점검했다.
포항시에 따르면 이날 현장 점검에는 박은식 산림청장과 박용선 포항시장을 비롯해 산림청, 국립산림과학원, 경북도 관계자 등 50여 명이 참석했다.
시는 지난 6월 17일부터 8월 13일까지 총 3회에 걸쳐 기북면 탑정리 일대 소나무림 80ha를 대상으로 유인 헬기를 활용한 약제 살포를 완료했다. 특히 피해 밀도가 낮아지는 선단지인 기북면을 집중 관리해 인근 송이 산지와 타 지역으로의 확산을 막고, 드론방제와 예방나무주사를 병행하는 맞춤형 복합방제를 추진할 방침이다.
이처럼 지자체가 중앙정부 및 관계기관과 협력하여 소나무재선충병 방제 현장을 직접 확인하고 대응책을 점검하는 것은 산림 자원 보호를 위한 정상적인 행정 활동이다.
