[CTN맛집탐방]가금현 기자= 벼르고 벼르던 계획이 있었다.

덕산인지 삽교인지 행정구역은 잘 모르겠지만, 덕산면 소재지와 가까운 '착1낙지'에 들러 낙지덮밥도 한 그릇 먹고, 지난번 방문 때 눈여겨봤던 꽃양귀비 씨앗도 살짝 얻어올 생각이었다.

사람이 양심은 있는 법.
꽃씨만 '쓰으으윽' 하기엔 미안하니 밥이라도 한 그릇 팔아주고 열매 하나 따오려 했는데….

하필 이날은 월요일.
정기휴무였다.
아쉬운 마음에 아직 덜 영근 열매 몇 개만 슬쩍(?) 챙겨들고 발길을 돌렸다.
"다음번엔 낙지덮밥 꼭 팔아주고 하나만 따와야지"
그렇게 즉흥적으로 향한 곳이 바로 '솔담'이다.

솔담은 덕산에서 삽교 또는 예산 방향으로 향하는 벚나무길에 자리 잡고 있다.
유명한 사과나무 식당 맞은편 주유소 옆.
눈 크게 뜨고 보지 않으면 그냥 지나치기 쉽다.
하지만 한 번 찾고 나면 기억에 또렷이 남는다.
"주유소 옆뎅이!"
그것만 기억하면 된다.

입구에 들어서는 순간부터 느낌이 심상치 않다.
오래된 물건들과 정갈하게 꾸며진 공간.
마치 작은 박물관을 방문한 듯한 분위기가 펼쳐진다.
문을 열고 안으로 들어가면 감탄이 절로 나온다.
외관과는 전혀 다른 세상.
도자기 전시장에 들어선 듯한 고풍스러운 공간이 방문객을 맞이한다.
테이블 하나하나, 장식품 하나하나에 정성이 묻어난다.
칼질 한 번 하기도 아까울 정도의 분위기.
“여기서 먹으면 맛없을 수가 없겠다.”
그 생각이 자연스럽게 든다.
식당 주인이 도공 출신이 아닐까 싶을 정도로 도자기와 공간 연출이 수준급이다.

시끄럽고,
북적거리는 식당에 지쳤다면 솔담은 좋은 대안이다.

이곳 주인은 처음엔 다소 퉁명스럽게 느껴질 수도 있다.
하지만 대화를 나누다 보면 알게 된다.
집중할 일이 많고 바쁘면 무뚝뚝해지지만, 여유가 생기면 누구보다 편안하고 정 많은 성격이라는 것을.
예술가 기질이 느껴지는 부분이다.
실제로 식당 곳곳에서도 그런 감성이 묻어난다.

이날 CTN 취재진이 주문한 메뉴는 세 가지.
CTN 댓빵은 등심돈가츠.
CTN 중앙부처 출입기자는 치즈돈가츠.
CTN 기획실장은 돌솥비빔밥.
세 메뉴 모두 공통적으로 받은 평가는 단 하나.
"건강한 맛"
자극적인 조미료 대신 재료 본연의 풍미를 살렸다.
돈가츠는 바삭하면서도 담백했고, 치즈돈가츠는 고소함이 풍부했다.
돌솥비빔밥은 재료 하나하나가 살아 있는 정직한 맛이었다.
주변 테이블 손님들을 둘러봐도 비슷한 느낌이었다.
하나같이 멋을 알고 맛을 아는 사람들처럼 보였다.
솔담이 단순히 배를 채우는 공간이 아니라 취향을 즐기는 공간이라는 생각이 들었다.

덕산과 삽교 사이에서 조용한 맛집을 찾는다면 한 번쯤 들러볼 만한 곳이다.
다음번에는 착1낙지 낙지덮밥도 먹고, 잘 익은 꽃양귀비 씨앗도 하나 얻어와야겠다.
물론 밥값은 제대로 치르고 말이다.

[CTN Food Tour] A Surprise Stop at ‘Soldam’ After a Failed Poppy Seed Mission

Sometimes the best dining experiences happen completely by accident.
The original plan was simple: visit a nearby octopus restaurant, enjoy a bowl of spicy octopus rice, and collect a few mature poppy seed pods spotted during a previous visit.
However, upon arrival, an unexpected sign greeted us.
Closed.
Monday was the restaurant's regular day off.
With lunch plans suddenly canceled and stomachs beginning to protest, the CTN team searched for an alternative nearby and discovered a hidden local treasure called “Soldam.”
Easy to Miss, Impossible to Forget
Located along the scenic cherry-tree road connecting Deoksan, Sapgyo, and Yesan, Soldam sits quietly beside a gas station opposite the well-known Apple Tree Restaurant.
Drivers can easily pass by without noticing it.
Those who do stop, however, are rewarded with something special.
More Museum Than Restaurant
The moment visitors approach the entrance, Soldam feels different.
Vintage decorations, carefully arranged displays, and artistic details create an atmosphere closer to a museum or pottery gallery than a typical restaurant.
Inside, the impression becomes even stronger.
Every corner reflects patience, craftsmanship, and years of dedication.
The owner appears to possess an artist's eye, with pottery and traditional aesthetics playing a major role in the restaurant's identity.
Dining here feels less like eating a meal and more like enjoying a cultural experience.
A Place for Relaxation
Unlike crowded restaurants where customers wait in long lines and rush through meals, Soldam offers calmness.
The peaceful interior encourages guests to slow down and enjoy their food.
The owner may initially appear reserved, but after a brief conversation it becomes clear that behind the serious exterior is a warm personality shaped by artistic passion and attention to detail.
That same personality can be seen throughout the restaurant.
Healthy Flavors Take Center Stage
The CTN team ordered three signature dishes:
Pork Loin Tonkatsu
Cheese Tonkatsu
Stone-Pot Bibimbap
All three dishes received the same verdict:
Healthy and honest flavors.
The pork cutlet was crispy yet light.
The cheese cutlet delivered rich and satisfying flavor without being overwhelming.
The stone-pot bibimbap showcased fresh ingredients and balanced seasoning.
Rather than relying on excessive sauces or strong seasonings, Soldam focuses on quality ingredients and natural taste.
Even fellow diners seemed to appreciate the restaurant's unique atmosphere and refined cuisine.
CTN Verdict
While the poppy seeds were not quite ready for harvest, Soldam was perfectly matured.
With its gallery-like interior, artistic atmosphere, and wholesome menu, Soldam stands out as one of the most charming hidden restaurants in the Deoksan-Sapgyo area.
For travelers seeking a peaceful dining experience away from crowds, this hidden gem is worth the visit.
And next time, perhaps the octopus rice and those fully ripened poppy seeds will be waiting too.
