관광 마케팅 역시 정상회담의 우호적 분위기를 핑계 삼은 단발성 '어그로 유도책'으로 가득 차 있다. 한 달간 일본인 입국객에게 치맥 굿즈와 웰컴키트를 주겠다는 '특별 환대 캠페인'이나, 다카이치 총리의 코스를 연계한 '대구-안동 관광상품' 등은 깊이 있는 체류형 콘텐츠가 아닌 일시적인 호기심에 기댄 미봉책이다. 심지어 6월에 열리는 BTS 부산 공연에 엮어 '대구형 K-콘텐츠 투어'를 하겠다는 대목에서는 실소를 금할 수 없다. 타 지자체의 메가 이벤트에 무임승차하려는 얄팍한 기획일 뿐, 대구만의 고유한 뷰티·미식 콘텐츠의 자생력을 키우려는 근본적인 대안은 보이지 않기 때문이다.

결국 대구시의 이번 투트랙 전략은 외교적 이슈를 틈타 가시적인 '실적 쌓기'용 수치를 만들어내기 위한 보여주기식 이벤트에 가깝다. 공항 이용객의 편의를 위해 시외 리무진과 공항버스 노선을 확충하고 환승객을 위한 공항관광셔틀을 운영하겠다는 계획이 공염불이 되지 않으려면, 항공사에 세금을 쥐여주며 노선을 구걸하는 행태부터 멈춰야 한다. 꼼수 성격의 재정 지원 기준 완화를 전면 재검토하고, 외국인 관광객들이 자발적으로 대구를 찾을 수 있도록 돕는 인프라 정비와 차별화된 콘텐츠 확충에 예산을 우선 집중해야 할 과제를 안고 있다.

For plans to expand intercity limousine and airport bus routes and operate airport tourist shuttles for transit passengers not to become empty talk, the city must stop begging for routes by handing out tax money to airlines. It bears the task of completely reviewing the trick-like easing of financial support standards and prioritizing the budget into infrastructure refinement and differentiated content expansion that will help foreign tourists voluntarily visit Daegu.
