김기재 후보는 23일 자신의 선거캠프에서 ‘당진시 대전환 11대 프로젝트’의 대미를 장식할 마지막 시리즈로 ‘아이부터 어르신까지 평생지원 도시 당진’ 공약을 발표했다.
이날 김 후보는 “복지는 단순히 어려운 이들을 돕는 시혜적 정책에 그쳐서는 안 되며, 시민의 삶 전체를 든든하게 지켜주는 안전망이어야 한다”고 강조했다. 이어 “출산과 보육에서부터 청년·여성 지원 강화, 중장년의 재도약, 어르신의 안락한 노후까지 당진시가 생애 전 주기를 함께 책임지는 도시를 만들겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.

세대별 맞춤 정책으로는 은퇴 전후 중장년층의 재취업과 사회참여를 돕는 ▲당진 중장년 인생이모작 지원(당진형 경력은행 및 플랫폼 구축)과 65세 이상 어르신 가구의 전구 교체, 간단한 수리 등을 돕는 생활밀착형 방문 서비스인 ▲당진 그냥 해드림센터 구축을 약속했다.
김기재 후보는 “복지는 거창한 구호가 아니라 시민의 일상을 실제로 바꾸는 힘이 있어야 한다”며 “시장 직속 기구를 통해 청년과 여성의 목소리를 시정에 직접 반영하고, 아이 키우기 좋고 청년이 머물며, 어르신이 편안한 ‘행복 도시 당진’을 반드시 완성하겠다”고 강한 의지를 피력했다.
