[Seoul/CTN] Reporter Geum-Hyun Ka = Seoul¡¯s popular Taekwondo performance series, which achieved record-breaking success last year, is returning with upgraded performances and expanded interactive programs for both local citizens and international tourists.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the ¡°2026 Seoul Taekwondo Regular Performance¡± will be held at Cheonugak Hall in Namsangol Hanok Village from May 9 to October 18. Performances will take place twice every weekend at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., excluding July and August due to the summer heat.
This season features 10 renowned Taekwondo teams, including Kukkiwon, the Korea Combat Taekwondo Research Institute, Taekwon Koreo, and Kyungmin University¡¯s Taekwondo Demonstration Team. Audiences will enjoy not only traditional Taekwondo demonstrations but also creative fusion performances combining martial arts and modern stage effects.
One of the highlights this year is the expansion of hands-on experience programs designed for visitors of all ages.
The ¡°Taekwondo Experience Zone,¡± opening in May, allows visitors to enjoy digital punch and kicking challenges using interactive motion-measuring equipment. No prior reservation is required, making it easily accessible for families and tourists.
Starting in June, special programs for foreign tourists will also be introduced. Participants can wear official Taekwondo uniforms, learn basic techniques, and experience board breaking sessions. The program will be held every Sunday after the regular performance for about 30 minutes. Participants will receive a certificate and a commemorative belt designed in Seoul¡¯s signature color of the year, ¡°Morning Yellow.¡±
In addition, Taekwondo street performances will be staged at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), one of Seoul¡¯s most iconic landmarks. The performances will run 12 times during April–June and September–October, featuring dynamic shows by the teams Bigabi and Mirme.
