[경북/CTN]이수현 기자= 조영숙 경상북도농업기술원장이 6일 평가회를 앞두고 "고추 품종평가회는 재배 농가가 우량품종을 선택하고 재배할 수 있는 현장 정보 제공에 의미가 크다"라며 "기후변화에 대응할 수 있는 재배 기술을 개발함으로써 농가 소득 증대에 최선을 다하겠다"라고 밝혔다. 경상북도농업기술원은 영양고추연구소에서 농업인과 육종회사, 고추 연구 및 지도 관계자 등 350여 명이 참석한 가운데 '2026 고추 품종평가회'를 개최한다고 발표했다.
경북도에 따르면 지난 2008년 시작해 올해로 19년째를 맞이한 이번 평가회는 고추 품종의 수량성과 병해충 저항성, 생리 장해, 품질에 대한 정보를 제공해 농업인이 품종별 생육과 특성을 현장에서 비교·선택할 수 있도록 마련됐다.
이번 행사에서는 지역 고추산업 명품화를 위한 전문가 특별강의와 함께 올해 고추 작황 및 병해충 발생 정보가 공유된다. 아울러 영양고추연구소가 개발한 지역 재래종 기반 고추 10여 품종을 포함해 국내 시판되는 고품질 복합 내병성계 100여 품종이 재배 포장에 전시된다. 1995년 설립된 영양고추연구소는 그동안 막덮기 부직포 재배법 등 150여 건의 재배 기술을 개발해 왔으며, 최근에는 기후변화 대응 신기술 개발에 집중하고 있다고 설명했다.
