[CTN/교육]가금현 기자= 재단법인 서령고등학교 박재중 장학재단(이사장 김기찬)이 창립 20주년을 맞아 지난 7월 24일 기념행사를 개최하고, 지나온 20년의 나눔 역사를 돌아보며 고(故) 박재중 선생의 숭고한 뜻을 되새겼다.

이날 기념식에는 김지용 서산교육지원청 교육장을 비롯해 장학재단 관계자, 서령중·고등학교 교장 및 학교 관계자, 서령고 총동문회 회장단, 장학금 수혜자 대표 등이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.

박재중 장학재단은 서령고 21회 졸업생인 고(故) 박재중 선생의 남다른 후학 양성 의지에서 출발했다.

학창 시절 경제적 어려움 속에서도 학업을 이어갔던 고인은 모교 후배들이 자신과 같은 어려움을 겪지 않기를 바라는 마음으로 장학재단 설립이라는 유지를 남겼다.

이에 유족들은 고인의 뜻을 존중해 지난 2005년 법인을 설립했으며, 본격적인 인재 양성 사업에 나섰다.

설립 이후 재단은 매년 서령고등학교 재학생들을 장학생으로 선발하여 장학금을 지급해 왔다.

20년 동안 변함없이 이어진 재단의 지원은 경제적 여건과 관계없이 많은 학생들이 학업에 전념하고 자신의 꿈을 마음껏 펼칠 수 있는 든든한 버팀목이자 토대가 되어왔다.

행사에 참석한 장학금 수혜 대표자들과 동문들은 모교와 지역 사회의 소중한 자산으로 자리 잡은 고(故) 박재중 선생의 나눔 정신에 깊은 감사를 전했다.

아울러 재학생들 역시 선배의 값진 뜻을 가슴에 품고 사회에 이바지하는 인재로 성장하겠다는 다짐을 밝혔다.
