[사회/CTN]가금현 기자 = 충남경찰청(청장 김호승)과 충남자치경찰위원회(위원장 이종원)는 오는 6월 6일 현충일을 맞아 천안·아산 일대를 중심으로 폭주족에 대한 강도 높은 특별단속을 펼친다고 밝혔다.
경찰은 지난 삼일절에도 폭주·난폭운전에 대한 선제적 단속을 통해 총 162건의 위법행위를 현장에서 적발한 바 있다.
당시 음주·무면허 운전자 및 불법개조 운전자에 대해서는 형사처분 하였으며, 소음기준 초과에 대해서는 과태료를 부과하는 등 무관용 원칙으로 엄정 대응했다.
특히, 경찰은 작년 삼일절에 SNS 등을 통해 폭주 모임을 사전 모집하고 라이브 방송을 운영했던 피의자에 대해 ‘공동위험행위 방조죄’를 적용해 처벌하는 등 사후 추적과 처벌에도 강력한 의지를 보여 왔다.
이번 현충일 역시 SNS 등을 통해 폭주 모임을 사전 기획하는 행위를 면밀히 모니터링하고 있다.
또한, 폭주족의 집결이 예상되는 주요 길목에는 교통싸이카·암행순찰차 등 가용 경력을 집중 배치하여 폭주·난폭 운전 징후가 보일 경우 현장에서 즉각 강력한 단속을 전개할 계획이다.
