오 후보는 당진의 지속 가능한 성장을 위한 핵심 동력으로 '교육·의료 인프라 확충'과 '당진항 중심의 물류 산업 육성'을 꼽았다.

그는 "인천항과 평택항의 물동량 포화 우려가 커지는 상황에서 당진항은 대한민국 물류와 산업의 새로운 중심축이 될 것"이라며, "이미 수도권 물류기업들과 인천항 기반 대형 기업들이 당진에서 공사를 진행하는 등 가시적인 변화가 시작됐다"고 설명했다.

마지막으로 오 후보는 "시민이 살고 싶고, 외지에서도 이사 오고 싶은 전국 최고 수준의 경쟁력을 갖춘 도시를 만들겠다"며 "다시 기회를 주신다면 30만 자족도시의 꿈을 시민과 함께 반드시 완성하겠다"고 압도적인 지지를 호소했다.
