"Green Sharing Grown with Sweat"... Cheonan City Farmers Bear Fruit of Neighborly Love
Sharing the joy of harvest by donating eco-friendly vegetables... Regular sharing for the underprivileged to continue until next month.
May 14, 2026
[Cheonan/CTN] Reporter Kang Hyun-su = Urban agriculture is sublimating beyond simple leisure into a warm community culture of sharing affection with neighbors. The Cheonan City Agricultural Technology Center announced on the 14th that the 10th class of Cheonan City Farmer School trainees practiced the value of sharing by donating eco-friendly leaf vegetables they grew themselves to the local community.
The vegetables donated that day, including flower lettuce, green lettuce, and red lettuce grown by the trainees with eco-friendly methods, were delivered to the Red Cross Volunteer Society Cheonan District and the Chungnam Welfare Center for the Blind. Although grown with unskilled hands, the green fruits raised with hearts thinking of neighbors became a medium for delivering a warm message of comfort to the marginalized, going beyond the joy of harvest.
This sharing move by the Cheonan City Farmer School will not end as a one-time event, but plans to continuously deliver vegetables harvested every week to the underprivileged and welfare facilities until June 4. Kim Seung-rae, Chairman of the Cheonan City Farmer School Autonomous Committee, expressed his feelings, saying, "I hope that the vegetables containing the sincerity of the trainees, though grown with unskilled hands, will be a small comfort to our neighbors."
Rural Guidance Officer Park Jong-hyeok, who was in charge of field guidance, also emphasized, "Through this sharing, it was a precious opportunity for trainees to feel the reward of harvest and for the local community to share warm affection," adding, "The true value of urban agriculture could be completed through sharing."
This vegetable sharing is significant in that it broke down the boundaries between urban and rural areas and returned food directly produced by citizens to social assets. It is expected that such a grassroots sharing culture will spread throughout the community, further strengthening the value of coexistence pursued by urban agriculture.
