[CTN/청양]오연근 기자= 전국 궁도인들이 충남 청양에 모여 활쏘기 기량을 겨루고 친목과 화합을 다지는 뜻깊은 자리가 마련됐다.
제1회 CTN배 전국활쏘기 대회가 8월 15일부터 16일까지 이틀간 충남 청양군 청무정에서 개최된다.
이번 대회는 대한민국 최고의 인터넷신문 CTN이 주최하고 청양군궁도협회가 주관하며, 청양군과 청양군의회, (사)전국인터넷신문협회, 삼원기획 등이 후원한다.
이날 청양군체육회 한광석 회장과 관계자, CTN 조성찬 아산본부장 등을 비롯한 관계자와 전국 각지에서 모인 궁도인 약 200명이 참여했다.
특히 전국에서 활발하게 활동하고 있는 1969활모임, 해궁회, 소떼클럽, 활쏘는호랑이 등 4개 클럽이 참여해 리그전 방식으로 그동안 갈고닦은 기량을 선보이며 열띤 경쟁을 펼친다.
이번 대회를 위해 이기국 CTN 충북취재본부장, 이면우 청양군궁도협회장, 강성진 69활모임 회장, 김성구 해궁회장, 고민구 소떼클럽 회장, 김경원 활쏘는호랑이 회장 등 관계자 등이 대회의 성공적인 개최를 위해 힘을 모았다.
특히 이번 대회는 단순히 승패를 가리는 스포츠 경기를 넘어 전국 궁도인들이 한자리에 모여 서로의 기량을 나누고 교류하며 우의를 다지는 소통과 화합의 장이라는 점에서 의미를 더하고 있다.
궁도는 오랜 세월 이어져 온 우리 전통 활쏘기 문화와 현대 스포츠의 특성을 함께 갖춘 종목이다.
집중력과 인내심, 절제된 자세가 요구되는 스포츠로, 참가 선수들은 정해진 규정에 따라 활시위를 당기며 정확한 사격 능력을 겨루게 된다.
이번 대회 개최지는 아름다운 자연환경과 청정한 지역 이미지를 자랑하는 청양이다. 전국 궁도인들이 청양을 방문하면서 지역의 관광자원과 자연환경을 알리는 홍보 효과도 기대된다.
청양군궁도협회 이면우 회장은 "전국에서 많은 궁도인들이 청양을 방문하는 만큼 선수들이 경기뿐 아니라 청양의 아름다운 자연과 지역의 정취도 함께 느낄 수 있도록 준비하고 있다"며 "이번 대회가 참가 선수들에게 좋은 추억으로 남기를 바란다"고 밝혔다.
가금현 CTN 대표이사는 "충남의 알프스, 청양의 푸른 기운 아래 전국 궁도인을 모시고 활쏘기 대회를 개최하게 되어 무척 뜻깊고 기쁘게 생각한다"고 말했다.
이어 “이번 대회가 성공적으로 열릴 수 있도록 물심양면으로 지원해 주신 청양군과 청양군체육회 관계자 여러분께 감사드린다”며 “현장에서 대회를 차질 없이 준비해 준 이기국 CTN 충북취재본부장과 이면우 청양군궁도협회장을 비롯한 관계자 여러분께도 깊은 감사의 말씀을 드린다”고 전했다.
가 대표는 또 “오늘 이 대회가 치열한 경합을 떠나 궁도인 여러분께서 그동안 정성껏 연마해 오신 기량을 마음껏 선보이고, 뜨거운 소통과 화합을 나누는 축제가 되길 바란다”고 강조하고 “CTN과 충남교육신문은 이번 대회를 발판으로 내년에는 더욱 성대하고 품격 있는 대회를 개최할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이번 대회는 전국 각지에서 선수와 관계자들이 청양을 찾는 만큼 지역경제 활성화와 청양 홍보에도 긍정적인 효과를 가져올 것으로 기대된다.
특히 1박 2일 일정으로 진행되면서 참가자들이 지역 음식점과 숙박시설 등을 이용하고 청양의 관광자원을 접할 수 있어 지역과 스포츠가 함께 상생하는 행사로 자리매김할 수 있을 것으로 전망된다.
대회 관계자들은 첫 대회의 성공적인 개최를 기반으로 향후 참가 규모와 대회 운영을 확대해 전국을 대표하는 활쏘기 대회로 발전시킨다는 계획이다.
한편 제1회 CTN배 전국활쏘기 대회는 참가 선수들의 선의의 경쟁과 함께 전국 궁도인들의 친목과 교류를 통해 궁도 발전에 기여하고, 청양을 전국에 알리는 새로운 스포츠·문화 행사로 자리매김할 것으로 기대된다.

Archers from across Korea will gather in Cheongyang, Chungcheongnam-do, to showcase their skills in traditional archery while strengthening friendship, communication and fellowship.
The 1st CTN National Archery Competition will be held from August 15 to 16 at Cheongmujung Archery Field in Cheongyang County, running for two days.
The competition is hosted by CTN, one of Korea's leading internet newspapers, and organized by the Cheongyang County Archery Association. It is supported by Cheongyang County, the Cheongyang County Council, the Korea Association of Internet Newspapers and Samwon Planning, among others.
Approximately 200 archers from across the country are expected to participate. In particular, four active national archery clubs — 1969 Hwalmoim, Haegunghoe, Sso-ddae Club and Hwalssoneunhorang-i — will compete in a league format, demonstrating the skills they have developed through years of dedicated training.
A number of officials and representatives have joined forces to prepare for the event, including Lee Gi-guk, CTN Chungbuk Regional Reporting Headquarters Director; Lee Myeon-woo, President of the Cheongyang County Archery Association; Kang Seong-jin, President of 69 Hwalmoim; Kim Seong-gu, President of Haegunghoe; Go Min-gu, President of Sso-ddae Club; and Kim Gyeong-won, President of Hwalssoneunhorang-i.
The significance of this competition extends beyond simply determining winners and losers. It is intended as a meaningful festival of communication and harmony, bringing archers together to exchange skills, build friendships and strengthen fellowship.
Traditional archery, or gukgung, combines Korea's long-standing traditional archery culture with the characteristics of a modern sport. It requires concentration, patience, discipline and controlled posture, with participants competing for accuracy while shooting according to established rules.
The event is also expected to provide an opportunity to promote Cheongyang, a county known for its beautiful natural environment and clean, pristine image. Visitors attending the national competition will have an opportunity to experience the region's natural scenery and local atmosphere.
An event official said, “As many archers from across the country are visiting Cheongyang, we have prepared the event so that participants can enjoy not only the competition but also Cheongyang's beautiful nature and unique local atmosphere.”
“We hope this competition will remain a memorable experience for all participants,” the official added.
CTN President and CEO Ga Geum-hyeon said, “It is extremely meaningful and gratifying to host this archery competition by welcoming archers from across the country under the fresh energy and blue skies of Cheongyang, Korea's ‘Alps.’”
He continued, “I sincerely thank Cheongyang County and officials of the Cheongyang County Sports Council for their wholehearted support in making this competition possible.”
“I would also like to express my deep appreciation to Lee Gi-guk, Director of the CTN Chungbuk Regional Reporting Headquarters, Lee Myeon-woo, President of the Cheongyang County Archery Association, and all the officials who worked tirelessly on site to ensure the smooth preparation of the event,” he said.
Ga Geum-hyeon further emphasized, “Rather than focusing solely on fierce competition, I hope today's event will become a festival where archers can freely demonstrate the skills they have diligently cultivated and share warm communication and harmony with one another.”
He added, “CTN and the Chungnam Education Newspaper will use this competition as a stepping stone toward hosting an even larger and more prestigious event next year.”
The competition is also expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and the promotion of Cheongyang, as athletes and officials from different parts of Korea visit the county.
In particular, because the event takes place over two days and one night, participants are expected to use local restaurants and accommodations while experiencing Cheongyang's tourism resources. This could help establish the competition as an event in which sports and the local community grow together.
Organizers plan to build on the success of the inaugural competition by expanding the number of participants and improving event operations, with the ultimate goal of developing it into a nationally recognized archery competition.
The 1st CTN National Archery Competition is therefore expected to contribute to the development of traditional Korean archery while serving as a new sports and cultural event that promotes Cheongyang to people throughout the country through friendship, exchange and healthy competition.
Ga Geum-hyeon concluded by saying, “I sincerely hope this competition becomes a beautiful festival enjoyed together by archers from across Korea.”
