[정치/CTN]가금현 기자 =성일종 국회의원(충남 서산·태안)은 태안서산안성을 연결하는 민자고속도로 건설사업이 정부의 민자적격성조사를 최종 통과하며 본격 추진 단계에 진입했다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 충남 태안군을 시작으로 서산시와 충남 서부권을 거쳐 경기도 안성시까지 연결하는 총연장 94.6km 규모의 대형 교통 인프라 사업으로, 총사업비 약 3조 7천억 원이 투입될 예정이다.

한국개발연구원(KDI) 공공투자관리센터(PIMAC)가 수행한 민자적격성조사 결과 사업 추진의 타당성이 인정되면서, 태안서산안성 고속도로 건설사업은 정부의 후속 행정절차를 거쳐 본격적인 추진 궤도에 오르게 됐다.

그동안 태안은 전국 기초자치단체 가운데 유일하게 고속도로가 연결되지 않은 지역으로 교통 접근성 개선 필요성이 꾸준히 제기돼 왔다. 이번 고속도로 건설이 완료되면 수도권과 충남 서부권을 직접 연결하는 광역 교통망이 구축돼 이동시간 단축은 물론 물류 경쟁력 강화와 관광 활성화 효과도 기대된다.

특히 태안 기업도시, 서산공항, 내포신도시, 미래 모빌리티 산업단지 등 충남 서북부 핵심 성장거점과의 연계성이 크게 향상돼 지역균형발전에도 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 전망된다.

성일종 의원은 "태안에 처음으로 고속도로가 연결되는 역사적인 전환점이 마련됐다"며 "현재 정부는 2031년 착공을 목표로 하고 있지만 국토교통부 및 관계기관과 긴밀히 협력해 사업 추진 속도를 높이고, 가능한 경우 2029년 조기 착공도 이뤄질 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

한편 국토교통부는 향후 전략환경영향평가, 우선협상대상자 선정, 실시설계 및 실시계획 승인 등 후속 절차를 진행할 예정이다.

The project is also expected to support regional economic growth by improving access to key development hubs, including Taean Enterprise City, Seosan Airport, Naepo New Town, and future mobility industrial complexes across the region.

Rep. Sung stated, "This is a historic turning point for Taean. The expressway will become a vital transportation artery connecting the region directly to the capital area. While the government's target groundbreaking date is 2031, we will work closely with relevant ministries to accelerate procedures and pursue an earlier construction start, potentially as early as 2029."

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will now proceed with environmental impact assessments, selection of preferred bidders, detailed engineering design, and project approval processes.
