[CTN/사회]가금현 기자= 한국도로공사가 발주하고 워크아웃 3년 차를 맞은 태영건설이 시공을 맡은 '고속국도 제30호선 서산-영덕선 대산-당진간 건설공사 제3공구' 현장이 심각한 환경오염을 유발하고 있어 대책 마련이 시급하다.

지난 11일 당진시출입기자단이 확인한 바에 따르면, 해당 제3공구 터널 공사 구간에서 발생한 비산먼지와 공사 차량 운행으로 인한 토사, 돌가루 등이 섞인 오수가 제대로 된 정화 과정 없이 인근 농경지와 하천으로 그대로 유입되고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

특히 터널 공사 현장에서 배출되는 오수는 다량의 미세한 돌가루와 유해 물질을 포함하고 있어 하천 생태계와 농작물에 치명적인 영향을 미친다.

전문가들에 따르면 이러한 공사 하수가 지속적으로 유입될 경우, 하천 바닥에 돌가루가 쌓여 수생 생물의 호흡을 막고 생태계를 파괴하며, 농경지 오염을 통해 농작물의 성장을 저해하고 최종적으로는 인체에도 유해한 영향을 미칠 수 있다.

하지만 대형 건설사인 태영건설의 환경관리는 낙제점에 가까운 실정이다.

태영건설은 앞서 폐기물 무단 방치 문제로 언론의 지적을 받아 시료 채취 및 전문기관 분석 의뢰까지 진행됐던 전력이 있음에도, 여전히 안일한 태도로 일관하며 환경오염을 방치하고 있다.

더욱이 시공사를 감독해야 할 발주처인 한국도로공사의 관리 부실도 문제로 지적된다.

당진시출입기자단이 문제 해결 및 입장을 듣기 위해 제3공구 현장사무실을 방문했으나, 관계자들은 모두 출장이나 휴가를 이유로 자리를 비워 어떠한 해명도 들을 수 없었다.

지역 주민들의 터전이자 자연환경을 위협하는 건설 현장의 배짱 공사에 대해 당진시 등 관계 당국의 조속한 현장 실태 조사와 엄중한 처벌, 재발 방지 대책 마련이 강하게 요구되고 있다.
